The universities of Paris 1 Panthéon - Sorbonne (France), Evora (Portugal), and Padua (Italy) are pleased to announce their joint Erasmus Mundus Master's degree entitled :

Industrial Technology, Heritage and Territories: History, Enhancement and Education (TPTI).

 

 

An innovative teaching method

 

 

TPTI combines three complementary areas of specialisation within a single educational course:

 

 

History of Technology; Management and Enhancement of

Historical and Cultural Heritage; and Conservation and Management of the Industrial Heritage and the Industrial Landscape.

 

 

The teaching model of the TPTI Master's course requires course attendance, participation to seminars and field workshops, the engagement with primary and secondary sources, project work in small groups under the tutor's supervision, and one-to-one tutorials.

Among TPTI's scientific network are experts in technologies and technical cultures, social history of industry, industrial archaeology, and management of the territory and regional development.

TPTI welcomes non-European teaching staff and researchers

 

 

The consortium welcomes teaching staff and researchers from non-European countries.

Every year each of the three partner universities will give hospitality to one

scholar for a three-month period.

 

 

TPTI in practice

 

 

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements for enrolment in the TPTI course:

 

 

- A university qualification (Licenciatura, Bachelor's degree, Diploma di laurea di primo livello) in one of the following disciplines: history; geography and territorial management; archaeology; economics of cultural heritage; physical and natural sciences (metals, geology); and

chemistry.

 

 

- A qualification recognised by universities and/or higher education institutions of engineering; architecture; and landscape and heritage sciences.

 

 

The Master's degree is also open to students with relevant professional experience:

architects, experts working in the field of cultural heritage, curators, restorers, and archaeologists.

The Master's degree course will recognise appropriately documented professional experience and other relevant qualifications.

 

 

Bursaries

- 14 bursaries are available for non-European students. Each bursary is 42,000 Euro for a total period of two years.

European students can attend the whole or part of the course within the structure of the traditional Erasmus bursaries.

 

 

- 3 bursaries are available for non-European teaching staff and researchers. Each bursary is 12,000 Euro for a period of 3 months.

Working languages :

The teaching languages are English and French.

 

 

TPTI is structured in 4 semesters

 

 

- First semester in Paris-Sorbonne:

History of technology

 

 

- Second semester in Evora:

Management and promotion of cultural heritage

 

 

- Third semester in Padua:

Conservation, management, enhancement and communication of industrial heritage

 

 

- Fourth semester in Paris, Evora or Padua:

writing of a dissertation

 

 

TPTI enables the acquisition of scientific expertise and professional skills

 

 

TPTI provides access to PhD programmes opportunities for employment in a number of fields including: museums, archives and repositories; consultancy in the

management and promotion of cultural, territorial and industrial heritage; technicalscientific journalism; and teaching.
