Before Arrival


MMEF Acceptance Letter :
Once the student is admitted by the MMEF Program a letter of Acceptance is issued for him and is immediately sent to his postal address. Equally the letter will be uploaded on your personal page.


On receiving the original of the Letter of Acceptance is it possibly to apply for the visa.
Documentation Procedure : Documents should be sent to: MMEF - Mathematical Models in Economics and Finance, Office B14, Maison des Sciences Economiques, 106/112 boulevard de l'Hôpital, 75647 Paris Cedex 13, France.
NB: Please do not send any document before the MMEF administration ask you to do so.

Visa Issue : Important! Visa Issue might take long time (two or three months in some countries), depending on the country of origin and your status. Therefore, we strongly advise you to make the application for visa as soon as you receive the original Letter of Acceptance by post:
  • First of all, make sure you own a valid passport (or ID card if you are a European citizen) valid for sixth months after the duration of your studies in Europe.
  • Apply at the relevant French Embassy or Consulate (French embassies and consulates). Documents and fees asked for your visa depend on your native country and the reasons of travel, thus you should contact your relevant embassy before applying in order to obtain the specific information.
  • We recommend you to email the MMEF administration at gradstu@univ-paris1.fr if any problem arises with your Visa issue.
Travel and Hotel Accommodation :
The initial destination for all new-coming MMEF students is Paris, where the Welcome Week is organized. During this week, students will have the opportunity to participate in numerous activities and discover Paris.
Students should arrange the arrival to Paris and respect the dates of the meeting.
The MMEF program can organize a shuttle from the Orly and CDG airports to pick-up the newcoming students during the Welcome Week.
Important! Please upload your flight details  at least 3 weeks prior to your arrival. Otherwise it is not possible to organize the shuttle service. You should upload the ticket to Paris on your personal page and send the e-mail to with the details of your flight (The Arrival Date and Time, Airport Name and Terminal, Flight Number) putting: ID Number - Name/Shuttle.
Also, hotel accommodation will be provided during the first week for students who will start the semester in another partner university. Hotel accommodation for those staying in Paris will be offered until the 1st day the student can move-in into the student residence.

Payment of the tuition fees : The first payment of 1000 Euros should be paid to the Consortium within 10 days after the acceptance, the rest should be paid before starting the Master Program.
The tuition fees are paid through the online Payment System on your personal page. Pre-opening a bank account :
The MMEF Program helps students to open a bank account during the Welcome Weeks. The pre-opening will be done to all  MMEF students at the CIC (Crédit Commercial et Industriel) Bank. 
It is possible to pre-open the account once the information on your personal page is complete and all the required documents are uploaded on time.

Housing
The MMEF Program is able to offer student housing throughout the study period. 
Every effort will be made to reserve University accommodation for all students admitted to the program and who asked for it. (Preference is given to the Students who made an application earlier).
Housing is provided in the following residences:

The rent ranges from 320 to 620 Euros/month depending on the size of the apartment. A security deposit will be asked in advance (no cash accepted, only debit/credit card). Rooms are furnished and contain a writing desk, office chair, bed, built-in wardrobe (note, that there is no pillow, blanket, dishes).

  • Housing Subsidies :
    Accommodation Financial Aid (“APL”) is given by the French government through the Caisse d'allocations familiales (CAF) on specific criteria (resources, surface, valid resident permit) up to 1/3 of the value of the rent.
    For this, students need to fill the form at www.caf.fr (click to "Etudiant" and download the form, then send it with the following documents:

    1. a housing certificate (to be asked to your residence);
    2. a certificate of your bank account ("Relevé d'Identité Bancaire"), to be asked to your bank;
    3. a copy of your visa and your passport.
