Erasmus Mundus Scholarships (for Students)

Erasmus Mundus (hereafter, EM) Scholarships provide funds to highly-qualified graduate students from "third countries" (countries outside the EU, EEA and candidate countries) and from EU countries that have been accepted by EM Master Consortium with its specific selection criteria. See also the Erasmus Mundus web site.

Prospective students may apply for the EM Scholarship through the EM Master QEM program even if they already applied for an EM Scholarship through another EM Master Course. However these applications should not exceed a maximum of three.

The application to an EM Scholarship is done through the unique Application Form of the Consortium. You need to precise it in Page C of File [2]. The same form will also allow you to apply to the QEM Master program.

After considering student?s applications, the Selection Board/Committee (Joint Graduate Committee - JGC-) of the QEM consortium propose to the EACE Agency by January 31 2010, a main list and a waiting list of selected to EM Scholarship. The final decision about the scholarship awarding will be sent to the applicant students individually as soon as we receive it from EACE Agency (mid May for all EM Masters). If some students withdraw from the main list, the best students from the waiting list will be upgraded to the main list and will be notified immediately after the confirmation of the EACE Agency.

In order to make the program more attractive for Third-Country nationals, the amount of the full- study scholarship will be higher for Third-Country master students (Category A scholarships) than for European master students (Category B scholarships). More specifically:

-  Category A EM-Scholarship can be awarded to students that originate from Third-Countries who apply the QEM Master Program. i.e. students who are not residents of any of the 27 EU Member countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, the UK, Sweden, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia), the EEA-EFTA states (Island, Liechtenstein and Norway) and candidate countries for accession to the EU (presently Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Turkey) and who have not carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above mentioned countries. The amount of the scholarship for Non-European Students with mobility is 48,000 Euros for  the 2 years of master studies.

- Category B EM-Scholarship can be awarded to any master students who do not fulfill the above criteria of Category A Students. The amount of the scholarship for European students is 20,000 Euros  for the 2 years of master studies.
The awarded scholarships are exclusively for a full-time enrollment. Moreover, students benefiting from an EM-Scholarship cannot benefit from another Community grant while pursuing their studeis within the QEM Master Program. For the next  2010-2012 cohort, a total of 18 EM Scholarships are available for bowth categories. Up to 2 scholarships can be awarded to students from the specific windows Western Balkan and and Turkey Window.
