Exchange Student Application (Bachelor & Master)

French
Spanish

Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne has signed student exchange agreements with more than 300 universities in 56 countries, in particular as part of the Erasmus+ program. If you are from one of those universities, you can apply to Paris 1 as an “exchange” student.

Principals of an exchange

Signing a learning agreement: before your departure, you must sign a learning agreement that lists the classes that you will take at Paris 1 and the equivalent classes from which you will be exempt in your university of origin (see the list of classes open to exchange students). When you return, you will obtain the degree from your university of origin and you will be able to show that you have had a truly international experience.
Length of studies at Paris 1: generally one to two semesters (see the academic calendar), bearing in mind that it can be shorter in certain cases (for example if you are completing a doctorate). With the Erasmus+ program, you can go abroad (for studies and/or internships) for up to 12 months per cycle (= 12 months during a Degree + 12 months during a Masters + 12 months during a Doctorate).
Exemption from registration fees: during your stay at Paris 1, you remain registered in your university of origin where you continue to pay your usual tuition fees ; however, you are completely exempt from registration fees at Paris 1 (depending on each case, you will however have to pay a contribution to social security – see the page administrative registration).

Conditions for participation

Preselection by your university of origin, bearing in mind that it and Paris 1 must have signed a student exchange agreement in your discipline and at your level of studies (Degree, Masters or Doctorate) – see the educational map.
Have a good general level and a level of French at least equal to B2 (see the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in order to take Degree classes and C1 to take Masters classes (French lessons are offered to help you perfect your French once you are here). If you choose English classes (available especially in the areas of economics, mathematics and IT - see the list of classes open to exchange students), you will have to prove your level in this language.

Application procedure

Once you have been preselected by your university of origin, you must submit an application to the Department of International Relations of Paris 1 before 30th June (if you wish to arrive in September for the first semester or the entire university year) or before 30th October (if you wish to arrive in January for the second semester). The following documents need to be uploaded to the application form:
Learning agreement completed and signed by you, by the tutor responsible for exchanges in your university of origin, and by the teacher-delegate for international relations within your future department in Paris 1.
Linguistic certificate of minimum level B2 (see the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) to take Degree classes and minimum C1 to take Masters classes : DELF/DALF, TCF or a certificate from a tutor of French in your university of origin. If you choose classes in English, you must also provide a certificate from a tutor of English from your university of origin or an equivalent certificate (IELTS, TOEFL…).
Copy of transcript of grades obtained in higher education, with a translation in French (cf. indicative grade conversion table).
