Independant Student Application (Bachelor [Years 2 & 3] & Masters)

You wish to start the second year of a Bachelor (Licence 2), the third year of a Bachelor (Licence 3), the first year of a Masters (Master 1) or the second year of a Masters (Master 2) at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne? Here is the procedure to follow to apply on an independant basis, i.e. outside the student exchange agreements. This procedure varies depending on your nationality, your country of residence and the nationality of the diploma that you are studying for (or that you hold).


European students

You are a citizen of a country of the European Union (EU = 28 countries), of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA = 4 countries = Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland), Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or the Vatican? In order to start the second year of a Bachelor (Licence 2), the third year of a Bachelor (Licence 3), the first year of a Masters (Master 1) or the second year of a Masters (Master 2) at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in September 2017, you must apply at https://ecandidat.univ-paris1.fr. Non-European students residing in a CEF procedure country

Are you not a citizen of a country of the European Union (EU = 28 countries), of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA = 4 countries = Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland), Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or the Vatican AND you reside in one of the following 36 countries? :

Depending on the nationality of the diploma that you are studying for (or that you hold), here are the different application procedures. 

 

French university diploma

Are you studying for (or hold) a French university diploma (for example on offshore campuses)? In order to start the second year of a Bachelor (Licence 2), the third year of a Bachelor (Licence 3), the first year of a Masters (Master 1) or the second year of a Masters (Master 2) at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in September 2017, you must apply at ecandidat.univ-paris1.fr. In order to know the application deadline and the documents to provide, see the corresponding department website. If you are accepted, you must then logon to www.campusfrance.org (CEF) in order to apply for a visa.

 

Foreign university diploma

Are you studying for (or hold) a university diploma that is not French? In order to start the second year of a Bachelor (Licence 2), the third year of a Bachelor (Licence 3), the first year of a Masters (Master 1) or the second year of a Masters (Master 2) at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in September 2017, you must apply at www.campusfrance.org (CEF) between 6 and 31 March 2017 (this date may be slightly amended; to check, contact Campus France services of your place of residence)*.

 

* The CEF procedure concerns the majority of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne's Bachelors and Masters. For the other Bachelors and Masters, you must follow the application procedure described hereinabove in the "French university diploma" section.

 


Non-European students not residing in a CEF procedure country

French university diploma

Are you studying for (or hold) a French university diploma? In order to start the second year of a Bachelor (Licence 2), the third year of a Bachelor (Licence 3), the first year of a Masters (Master 1) or the second year of a Masters (Master 2) at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in September 2017, you must apply at https://ecandidat.univ-paris1.fr. In order to know the application deadline and the documents to provide, see the corresponding department website. If you are accepted and if you do not reside in France, you must then apply to the French Consulate of your place of residence for a visa.

 

Foreign university diploma

Are you studying for (or hold) a university diploma that is not French? In order to start the second year of a Bachelor (Licence 2), the third year of a Bachelor (Licence 3), the first year of a Masters (Master 1) or the second year of a Masters (Master 2) at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in September 2017, you must apply at ecandidat.univ-paris1.fr*. The opening dates for applications are available here.

For information, here are the documents that had to be provided in 2016 :
► Form completed online, duly dated and signed;
► Detailed CV & covering letter;
► Copy of ID;
► Copy of your high school diploma (equivalent to Baccalauréat), of any university degree (equivalent to a Licence, for example) and your transcripts of university grades; if these documents are not in French, they must be accompanied by a translation;
► DELF/DALF or TCF level B2 (for applications for the 2nd year of a Bachelor [Licence 2]) or C1 (for applications for the 3rd year of a Bachelor [Licence 3], the 1st year of a Masters [Master 1] or the 2nd year of a Masters [Master 2]). These certifications are required only for nationals of countries in which French is not the official language;
► Presentation of your research project in 2 to 3 pages (for applications for Masters 2 Research [Masters 2 Recherche])
► Formulaire (for applications for the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Design [Licence 3 Design])
► Letter of recommendation written by a tutor (optional);
► 2 envelopes with your name and address completed; if you reside in France, these 2 envelopes must be franked at the current rate and must be respectively in the formats 210x297mm and 220x110mm; if you reside abroad, these envelopes must be accompanied by 2 international reply coupons;
► 1 transparent plastic folder (A4 format) open on the right in which you will place your full unstapled file.
If you are applying for several courses, you must put together application files for each course. In order to finalise your application, you may have to take additional steps (written test, oral interview…): ensure that you find out on the corresponding department website.

 

 

If you are accepted and if you do not reside in France, you must then apply to the French Consulate of your place of residence for a visa.

 

* For the degree programs offered by the IEDES, the IREST and the ISST, for the master's programs [Year 2] offered by the UFR 03, and for the bi-disciplinary bachelor's programs, you mustn't follow this application procedure, but the one that is described in the "French university diploma" section.
